Peter Moulson, Senior Employment & Retention Specialist at The Cellar Trust, discusses all things Stress Busters…

What is Stress Busters?

Stress Busters is a 45 minute psycho-educational presentation that aims to help people:

• Understand what stress is
• Learn about how it affects them and their lives
• Identify their own patterns of stress
• To begin managing their stress

Last year we delivered Stress Busters to over 1,000 people in the local area. The start of 2019 has been really busy for us and there’s even more to come, so we’re hoping to reach even more people this year.

As it’s currently Stress Awareness Month, and with Mental Health Awareness Week coming up in May, myself and the team here at the Trust are busy delivering sessions across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven. You might also see us out and about supporting organisations that are running events to promote mental health awareness across the region!

Why do you deliver Stress Busters?

I am passionate about mental health wellbeing and love going out and busting stress! When stress takes hold it can have a major impact on people’s lives, both at home and at work – nearly 40% of all workplace absence is stress related. If I can help people to be aware, start to manage their stress and make even a small difference in someone’s life then the early mornings, late nights and all the travelling are well worth it.

How much does it cost and how do I book a session?

The sessions are FREE – we are commissioned by My Wellbeing College NHS, to deliver Stress Busters to the community. All we ask is that a simple registration form is completed by attendees (a cup of tea and biscuits would be nice too!)

To book a session call 01274 588002 or email stressbusters@thecellartrust.org

“Your sessions were really enjoyed and we have been approached about sessions from you again in the near future if possible? You really helped make the day successful and we are looking forward to seeing you again! Many thanks.”

“We would like to thank you so very much. The feedback from staff was excellent. They really enjoyed your sessions with them. Thank you for making their day special. I would like to talk to you about working with us in the future.”

Approach PR sponsors The Cellar Trust

Ilkley-based multi award-winning PR consultancy, Approach has announced us as its 2019 charity of the year!

Approach will offer fundraising, volunteering hours and hands on coaching through its PR and social media training arm, Approachability. The team will also work with us to help spread further awareness around mental health issues.

Suzanne Watson, managing director at Approach, said: “We live and breathe wellness both inside and outside of our business and with statistics showing that around one in four people in the UK experience a mental health issue each year, we recognise the importance of supporting a charity which makes such a difference to adults in our local area. The work undertaken by The Cellar Trust has really resonated with the team and selecting them as our key focus for support was a collective decision. We’re looking forward to working together and helping them to reach more people and make even more of a difference this year.

Mind & The Cellar Trust – feedback about our winter pressures programme

Did you know we work in partnership with Mind in Bradford to deliver mental health support across the region? Our joint winter pressures programme has been focused on supporting people who struggle with their mental health to find alternatives to A&E.

We’ve had some fantastic feedback about Allia, who has been working in the community with the Intensive Home Treatment Team and Community Mental Health Teams, that we wanted to share with you:

“Allia has been like a best friend to me but on a professional level, throughout my time with IHTT, CAB and other appointments and time outs at Sanctuary she has been so patient with me and supportive and made me feel empowered and confident to speak and very consistent and good and keeping on track with appointments and positive. I feel very at ease speaking and being in her company.”

“Allia was very supportive in informing me of the service available at Mind. She put my mind at rest and helped me by making me feel very welcome.”

“I was in a dark place felt I had no one to turn to. Allia felt like a sister – she’s able to connect and makes it so easy for me to be open. She’s indescribably perfect at the job she’s been placed in. Bearing in mind I’ve only met her a hand full of times, she honestly doesn’t know that she’s a one in a million and her realness shines genuine, honest, just pure and down to earth. She’s seen me on my bad days. But still she was herself. Human scaffolding is people who surround you when you’re weak and unwell, and Allia was right there at the top catching me before I fell.”
